City of Oakland Proclamation
Wheras, in the spirit of progress and moving forward collectively, trust must be seen as an essential instrument for cooperation to exist between people of diversity communities in our common pursuit of happiness, prosperity and freedom; and
Whereas, in our magnificent array of languages, ethnicities, and cultures, trust must be at the very foundation for any of our uniting efforts to succeed - be it in clubs, recreation and sports, or through scholarship and academic pursuits; and
Whereas, social groups give people of diverse backgrounds an opportunity to get to know each other and develop working elationships with each other; and
Whereas, through peaceful travel and efficient operation of services within the community, we all benefit from groups who foster dialogue on simple necessities which guide our ethics and principles, and shared appreciation for each other; and
Whereas, Oakland appreciates the contributions of the many social groups who work to build trust within their circles of influence in each and every community;
Now Therefore, IRonald V. Dellums, Mayor of the City of Oakland, do hereby proclaim the month of October as
- "Community Circles Month"
in the City of Oakland, and encourage its recognition and remembrance by all the citizens of our city. I also encourage families, organizations, and neighborhoods to participate in programs, events, and activities which build the foundation of trust, innovation and collaboration within our city and throughout the greater human family.
Ronald V. Dellums, Mayor
