What is Community Circles Month?
Community Circles Month is a Public Awareness Month to promote building trust, respect and collaboration in our communities by encouraging individuals and families to participate in the many events sponsored by the social groups in our community. Community Circles Month is planned by Building Bridges, a California non-profit organization. It recognizes all types of organizations for their service to the community through arts, entertainment, sports, recreation and worship activities. This website is set up as a resource for the public to find out about events that may be of interest to them.
How can we get an event listed in the calendar for October 2008?
In September, please send us an email with your event title, the organization hosting the event, the location and time of the event and what it is. Also include a few sentences about why you feel this event should be recognized and how it builds trust and collaboration between diverse people in the community.
Do social groups participating in Community Circles Month have to mix with other groups they want to remain seperate from?
No. We recognize the necessity for each social group to remain seperate from others. For example, if sports teams were not seperated from each other, how could they compete? And a church would of necessity want to remain separate from other churches who preach doctrine that is in opposition to their own. Community Circles Month should in no way affect the normal competition and separation between these diverse entities.
Who is Community Circles Month for?
Community Cirlces Month is for the people that live in our community. It gives all on opportunity to find out what is happening in their community so they can decide which activities they, their friends and loved ones want to participate in.
